A construction site is often not considered a crime scene. However, construction sites are seen as low-risk, high-opportunity targets for thieves, and the estimated annual value of stolen construction materials in the US alone ranges between $300 million and $1 billion. CCTV systems are used to detect and deter these criminal activities. Typically, camera footage is stored on-site; however, this may lead to privacy violations or complete theft of the recordings.
