A construction site is often not considered a crime scene. However, construction sites are seen as low-risk, high-opportunity targets for thieves, and the estimated annual value of stolen construction materials in the US alone ranges between $300 million and $1 billion. CCTV systems are used to detect and deter these criminal activities. Typically, camera footage is stored on-site; however, this may lead to privacy violations or complete theft of the recordings.
Therefore, keeping recordings only on-site is not the safest option. Contracted security companies responsible for site security also require remote access to your footage. The main challenge here is how to provide remote access, as internet infrastructure is usually installed only in the final stages of construction. This is where the Teltonika Networks RUTX11 comes to your rescue.
The RUTX11 ensures uninterrupted communication through LTE-GSM connections with two backup SIM cards. With this broadband connection, you can manage and monitor the system and even create backup recordings if you wish.
Using cloud-based RMS software, you can monitor whether the RUTX11 is working properly, change operating parameters remotely, and receive automatic alerts on your mobile phone during abnormal situations such as power or communication outages.
You can share the Wi-Fi internet access available on the RUTX11 with your construction workers and also allow access to your company headquarters’ database.
If the recording servers working on-site cannot receive date and time information from a real-time server, the timestamps of the recorded footage will significantly drift over time. This will lead to insufficient evidence in forensic cases. To prevent this, you can connect the GNSS antenna included with the RUTX11, receive accurate date and time data from the satellite, and distribute it to all recording servers within the same network.
