Security surveillance solutions come with numerous challenges that vary depending on the conditions. Setting up efficient surveillance systems becomes even more difficult for large areas. These extensive ecosystems require power options, reliable connectivity, and the ability to install multiple cameras without making the infrastructure overly complex. For example, parking lot surveillance involves monitoring distant objects located outdoors.
In such cases, since Ethernet cables can only cover distances up to 100 meters, powering the cameras and connecting them to the internet becomes a challenge. Choosing the right connectivity product is crucial in these solutions, as it can significantly impact installation timelines and costs.
In this solution, a powerful Gigabit Ethernet router – RUTX08 – provides connectivity for the entire ecosystem. RUTX08 is a robust industrial router with advanced security features and RMS compatibility. In situations where a wired network is not available, a cellular router can also be an option.
RUTX08 connects via Ethernet to the TSW200 switch to deliver internet connectivity to the entire system. This unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet device has eight PoE+ ports, enough to power and connect up to five CCTV cameras and two access points simultaneously. The PoE+ standard in TSW200 provides up to 30W of power per port, with a total power budget of 240W—sufficient even for power-hungry PTZ cameras. Additionally, Gigabit Ethernet ensures the speed and efficiency required for real-time video data transfer.
When the solution requires adding more cameras (or other devices) to the ecosystem, additional TSW200 switches can be used. In scenarios where solution components are spread over large areas, each TSW200 features two SFP ports for long-range fiber optic communication. This allows one TSW200 to be connected to another reliably, even when they are more than 100 meters apart, while maintaining the same speed level.
Such a large infrastructure inevitably comes with maintenance and support challenges. A security system only serves its purpose when it operates continuously without interruptions. Therefore, remote management capabilities become essential for running diagnostics, performing updates, or receiving notifications when unusual activity occurs. The Teltonika Networks Remote Management System (RMS) handles all these tasks and even allows secure remote access to non-Teltonika devices for configuration and troubleshooting. Combining these features with PoE+ and RMS support delivers a reliable, high-bandwidth solution with minimal installation and maintenance resources.
Eight PoE+ ports with a 240W power budget are sufficient to connect and operate a large ecosystem of devices.
SFP connectivity serves scenarios where distant components require reliable and high-speed connections.
The industrial design of the TSW200 switch withstands harsh conditions and extreme temperature ranges (-40°C to 75°C).
RMS compatibility ensures simple remote maintenance and diagnostics to prevent downtime or security threats.
